The notification for the UPSSSC PET 2026 exam is expected to be released very soon. Passing this preliminary exam is highly crucial for candidates aspiring for government jobs in Uttar Pradesh. Below is all the essential information you need regarding the PET 2026 exam.

Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit

To apply for this exam, the candidate must be at least 10th class pass. The age limit will be calculated using July 1st as the base date.

General and EWS: 18 to 40 years.
OBC, SC, and ST: 18 to 45 years.
Please note that before filling out the form, it is mandatory for all candidates to complete their OTR (One Time Registration) on the UPSSSC website.

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The exam will be conducted offline through an OMR paper.
There will be a total of 100 questions carrying 100 marks (1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer).
Candidates will be given a total duration of 2 hours to complete the exam.
There is a provision for negative marking; 1/4th of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

PET Score Validity and Job Opportunities

The UPSSSC PET score remains valid for 3 years. If you secure around 70 to 75 marks, you become eligible to appear for almost any main examination conducted by the commission. With a good score, you can apply for various vacancies that will come up in the next three years, such as: Gram Panchayat Adhikari, Chakbandi Lekhpal, Clerk, VDO (Village Development Officer), Lower PCS, Revenue Lekhpal, Agriculture Technical Assistant, Auditor, Sugarcane Supervisor, ASO, Excise Constable, Forest Guard, and Steno.

Detailed Subject-wise Syllabus

The PET exam has a very specific and comprehensive syllabus. The subject-wise mark distribution is as follows:

History and Indian National Movement: 10 marks (5 marks from Ancient/Medieval India and 5 marks from the National Movement).
Geography, Economy, Constitution, and General Science: 5 marks each.
Elementary Arithmetic and English: 5 marks each.
Hindi: 15 marks (5 marks for grammar and 10 marks for two unseen passages).
Reasoning: 5 marks (covering topics like order and ranking, blood relations, calendar, coding-decoding, etc.).
Current Affairs and General Awareness: 10 marks each, making a total of 20 marks.
Graphs and Tables (Data Interpretation): 20 marks (10 marks for two graphs and 10 marks for two tables)
